Recovery System

Consists of a light parachute for easy recovery.

Avionics

The Legacy Starts Here.

Figurehead I features Space Bar’s in-house developed Avionics B V1, serving as a foundation to calibrate theoretical information against actual flight data. This serves as a stable foundation upon which we develop our native flight tracking, guidance and telemetry capabilities.

Recovery

Built to Work.

To maximise the chances of flight success, Figurehead I uses motor ejection from a commercial, off-the-shelf motor. Descent is regulated by our 850mm, hemispherical ripstop nylon parachute durable enough to endure high temperatures and shock load, crafted in-house. The shock cord is attached to two sturdy aluminium plates.

Aerostructures

Built Tough.

To maximise the chances of flight success, Figurehead I uses a commercially manufactured carbon fiber fuselage, paired with a durable elliptical nylon nose cone and high-quality birch fins reinforced with 3 layers of carbon fiber tip-to-tip layups, both produced in-house. This guarantees survival through humid atmospheres, rough shipping conditions and flight temperatures.

Flight Test

Built to Fly.

In August of 2025, Figurehead I was able to do a flight test. Launch conditions demanded that it had to use a smaller motor than intended, but it made a safe flight and achieved its original goal of evaluating our first-generation avionics.
