Figurehead II

Beyond Boundaries

Pushing new boundaries.

Drag and weight-optimised, Figurehead II breaks the sound barrier and soars to 3km. Hover to take a closer look.

Primary Avionics

The brains of the rocket.

Recovery System

Consists of a light parachute for easy recovery.

Aerostructures

The brawns of the rocket.

Primary Avionics

The Legacy Continues.

Figurehead II features Space Bar’s in-house developed Avionics B V2, building on lessons learnt during the launch of Figurehead I. This launch collects more aerodynamics data and validates our capabilities in actively stabilising the rocket along its roll axis.

Backup Avionics

Two is Better than One.

Figurehead II also features Space Bar’s in-house developed Avionics C V1, serving as a compact yet reliable sidekick to ensure deployment of the ejection charge. Free from active control duties, Avionics C also provides high-rate data logging capabilities to give us an independent source of aerodynamic data.

Camera Module

New Perspectives.

Figurehead II features upward-facing and outward-facing onboard cameras, gaining 3x the perspectives compared to Figurehead I.

Recovery

Dual Deploy.

A drogue and main parachute architecture ensures that Figurehead II touches ground at a safe speed while staying close to its launch site. Pyrotechnic ejection is used to keep the rocket lightweight.

Aerostructures

Painstakingly Crafted.

To ensure maximum quality, we meticulously constructed the fuselage and nose cone of Figurehead II in-house from plain woven carbon fiber and glass fiber tubing respectively. Laminated with top-quality epoxy, they form a very solid yet lightweight foundation, setting Figurehead II up for success. These materials choices also guarantee survival through humid atmospheres, rough shipping conditions and flight temperatures.

Sidequest I Aerostructure

Aerostructures

In Perfect Control.

Ever get disappointed by blurry flight footage? Figurehead II guarantees that will never happen thanks to four ailerons that actively stabilise it. Small enough to prevent course deviations, but strong enough to stop your world from spinning, these make the world of difference in image quality.

Flight Test

We’re Not Broken, Just Bent.

In March of 2026, Sidequest I attempted a launch, on schedule.

However, a motor failure rendered it inoperable afterwards. This was the last frame of Sidequest I in flight. As the sister rocket to Sidequest I, Figurehead II was also affected. We are re-constructing the necessary components and hope to launch again in September 2026.

Behind the scenes

The hard work put in by our rocket scientists to make this possible.
